Volumes containing letterpress copies of examinations of title for properties in Chicago, Winnetka, and Thornton Township, prepared circa 1891 by the Haddock, Vallette & Rickcords Company of Chicago. The examinations reproduce legal documents connected with notable properties and estates of the area, including documentation of the litigation surrounding the estate of Walter L. Newberry (died 1868). These volumes were evidently maintained in the offices of the Haddock, Vallette & Rickcords Company for their own record.
